Rochelle Hebert

Grade 2 Teacher

Teach the change you want to see in the world

Welcome!

Hello, I'm Miss Hebert!

Teaching and learning has always been a large part of my life and I am so excited to have the opportunity to be your child's second grade teacher! I look forward to a year full of lots of learning, growing, overcoming obstacles, and of course FUN! We will be very productive this year, working on our ability to become more independent informed thinkers, problem solvers, researchers, innovators, and communicators in all subjects and of course, responsible citizens through it all!

Throughout the year, I am ALWAYS open to communication between school and home. No matter the hour, we are in this together as a team! So please feel free to contact me any time via my school email rochelle.hebert@naugatuck.k12.ct.us or more likely, through the Remind app which I will ask you to join for access to frequent class announcements and photos of your child's work! The Remind app is my preferred mode of communication as I feel it is the quickest and most convenient for all! :)

About Miss Hebert

I became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children, both academically and socially/emotionally. I enjoy forming relationships with children that lie on a foundation of trust where we can each learn from each other and prosper. I began working with children as a child myself since I grew up with a daycare in my home. I continued as an after-school counselor, personal tutor, and preschool teacher for several years. Finally, I completed two full year internships as part of my Master's program, each in a different school district, before teaching here at Andrew Avenue. My experiences with children have all shown me how important a positive relationship is to successful learning. I LOVE getting to know my students and making them smile through their learning!

I love teaching at Andrew Avenue because of its strong sense of community. Everyone is very friendly and I quickly became comfortable. I've only taught here since 2017, yet I feel I’ve been a part of the Andrew Avenue family for a while. I can't wait to continue teaching at AAES, "A Great Place to be!"

Education: I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Southern CT State University in 2013 and my Master of Arts in Elementary Teaching from Quinnipiac University in 2017.

Years of Experience: Since 2017

Years Working at Naugatuck Public Schools: Since 2017

A few of my favorite things: If we aren't talking about donated classroom materials, then I love caramel machiattos from Dunkin Donuts, or really any coffee! I also really enjoy hiking and walking outdoors, doing yoga, and reading. I have an adventurous side and love roller coasters, ziplining, and trying new things. This past summer I canoed and rode a horse for the first time! Marshalls is my absolute favorite store and I can never go in and leave with just one item! Blue is my favorite color. Italian food is my favorite, especially CHEESY pasta and pizza, but I also love tapas and paella. I'm a huge animal lover and especially love cats. I have 2 cats at home named Bella (pronounced in Spanish) and Ollie (our new kitten!) and they are my babies. Check out the slideshow to the right to see pictures of them!Jesse and I enjoying the weather on a boatJesse and I enjoying the weather on a boat

A fun fact about me: A fun fact about me is that I can speak Spanish and I lived in Spain for a summer with a host family! I also have a blue and gold macaw at home named Phil. I've also gone skydiving! :)
