Our district has been chosen to be a featured school district for CT Grown for CT Kids week. On Tuesday, October 8th we will be hosting a farm to school visit at Andrew Avenue School with Senator Logan and possibly Senator Hartley and Representative Labriola.
We have many activities planned starting around 11 am. We will be hosting Naugatuck's very own Kaitlyn Kimball from Sunset Farm. The best part is she is a new teacher at our high school. We will feature a kale radish salad on our menu using ingredients from her farm. We will also feature local apples and pears so our students can participate in the CT Put Local on Your Tray Hardcore Challenge. The students will be challenged to eat a pear or an apple down to its core.
We will also be hosting a farmers market that day from 1-4 pm. Students will come down class by class and have the opportunity to purchase local produce and sample apple cider.
There WILL be school on Columbas Day, Monday, October 14, 2019.
