Farmer's Market

Our district has been chosen to be a featured school district for CT Grown for CT Kids week. On Tuesday, October 8th we will be hosting a farm to school visit at Andrew Avenue School with Senator Logan and possibly Senator Hartley and Representative Labriola.

We have many activities planned starting around 11 am. We will be hosting Naugatuck's very own Kaitlyn Kimball from Sunset Farm. The best part is she is a new teacher at our high school. We will feature a kale radish salad on our menu using ingredients from her farm. We will also feature local apples and pears so our students can participate in the CT Put Local on Your Tray Hardcore Challenge. The students will be challenged to eat a pear or an apple down to its core.

Take the Challenge

We will also be hosting a farmers market that day from 1-4 pm. Students will come down class by class and have the opportunity to purchase local produce and sample apple cider. The students can purchase Pumpkins ($2-$4) Acorn and or Butternut and Spaghetti squash $4, Apples, Pears and Ears of Corn .50¢ each, You will also be able to purchase Green Beans $2. per pound.

Parent Pick up                  Reminders about pick up and drop off:                 Parent Pick up

I have been working with the Naugatuck Police Department to help me increase safety for pick up and drop off.  We are working together to paint lines in the parking lot to create a driving lane that will loop around the lot to help you navigate where to go.

Also, please have your child exit the car on the back passenger side.  This is the safest way to exit the car!  Your child should also keep their seatbelt on until the car stops.   Thank you for your cooperation and working together for the safety of all students at Andrew Avenue!

Walkers:  Parents, thank you for your understanding that when you walk your child to school, you must drop them at the door and they will enter the school independently.  This is for the safety of all students in school!

Community Closet DONATIONS:

Please consider donating to our Community Closet.  We collect items for students in need. If you have any items to donate, please send them in with your child labeled community closet!   Examples of items are shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, underwear, socks, etc. Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.

School Hours

Our doors open at 8:40 AM students can then enter and go have breakfast. (We have free breakfast and free lunch.) A bell rings at 8:55 AM at which time school officially begins. Our day ends at 3:25 PM. On a half-day, school dismisses at 1:00 PM. Lunch is served on all half days. On ½ days called on account of weather and when all after school activities are canceled the SPARK and YMCA program does not run. Please make sure the school knows how your child/children will be going home on those days.
