February Newsletter

Who:  ALL students grades K- 4 are encouraged to participate

What:  The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positive bullying prevention initiative that schools across the country are participating in that improves school climate and increases student engagement.

It is one week devoted to  performing as many acts of kindness as possible.

Students show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS by accepting the challenge and completing the provided acts of kindness checklist.

When:  The Great Kindness Challenge:  February 11th - 15th

Where:  All kind acts can be completed during school.  Although students are encouraged to continue showing acts of kindness at home, in their communities and in our world.

Why:  All students deserve to learn in a safe supportive  and dynamic environment. The Great Kindness Challenge provides a powerful tool that actively engages, students, teachers, administration, families, and the community in creating a school culture of acceptance, tolerance, unity, and respect.

Classroom Lessons

All lessons this month will focus on “spreading kindness like confetti.”

Students in grades K-1 will continue to learn about the connection between kindness and making and keeping friends.

kindness book.jpg

“A slice of nice makes a mile of smile”

Students in grades 2-4 will make “Kindness Catchers.”  This activity allows students to brainstorm different acts of kindness to write under the flaps.  The “Kindness Catchers” can then be used to reinforce and practice acts of kindness! We are looking for parent volunteers to help with the kindness stations that run during recess.  Volunteers will have to supervise small groups of students and assist them in completing their challenges (friendship bracelets, kindness cards, posters).
