To the teachers and staff of Naugatuck Schools,
Beginning just seven short years ago, the Naugatuck Education Foundation has quickly become a recognizable name around the borough as it raises and distributes funds for the students of our public schools. The foundation continues to implement its mission of encouraging and supporting excellence in education by providing funding for creative and innovative learning opportunities for students.
Over the past six grant cycles, the NEF has funded over $70,000 worth of projects at all levels between grades Kindergarten through 12. In April, we packed the NHS Library / Media Center with educators, students, civic leaders and the local press, as we held our Grant Awards Ceremony and funded over $12,000 in grants to:
- Unplugged Games in the Media Center; Marisa Tassinari and Colleen McMorran, Naugatuck HS
- The Mindful Corner; Debbie LePage, Cross Street Intermediate School
- Go Fish!; Beth Lancaster and John Forish, Naugatuck HS
- Amazing Inventions with Arduino!; The City Hill School Technical Education Department
Naugatuck Education Foundation is happy to announce that beginning with the 2019 Grants Cycle, the NEF has moved its grant application online through Google Forms rather than our past practice of requiring multiple copies sent by snail mail.
Also this year, there is another change in the grant applications. Project Grants for the 2019 year are still due by Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 21, 2019. We also will be awarding grants up to $500 on a rolling basis throughout the school year.
